OL2007 New Contact Entries Won't Save; or Send
Attempts to get manually inputted contacts to "save" are met with no action.
These same new entries when manually entered or pasted into a new email To: are met with the same no action. Contact window or Compose window just sit there and do not respond. Sending emails to established addresses work normally. |

No information here. Your descriptions are completely opaque. Clarify them
and provide the following information: 1. Mail account type and information store. 2. How this Outlook profile was configured. 3. Whether this installation ever worked and if so what steps stopped it from working. 4. Error messages and Event viewer data. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Howard Kelley" wrote in message ... OL2007 New Contact Entries Won't Save; or Send
The account type is POP/SMTP (three separate accounts) as well as Exchange.
It does not matter account I attempt to send through. Profile was created through usual account setup procedure and tested successfully. Installation has worked for months in the usual and normal fashion. It's unwillingness to save new entries to Contact or to send to new recepients is new event. There have been no changes to the account setups in several weeks. There are no error messages just "dead" save or send buttons, i.e., no action. App is Outlook 2007 with Vista SP1. If I reply to the same email addresses, I experience no problems. If I attempt to manually input the email address or cut/paste it...those addresses will neither send or save to contacts. I am baffled... "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: No information here. Your descriptions are completely opaque. Clarify them and provide the following information: 1. Why would you have POP/SMTP and Exchange in the same profile?

My Outlook is configured for three POP accounts and one Exchange Account. I
have used such a configuration for five years. In that way, the POP accounts are amalgamated into the Exchange store. Does this seem unusual to you? Seems like a recipe for what's happened. POP/SMTP accounts use a different
information store than Exchange. Do you have both an Exchange mailbox and a PST file in this profile? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Howard Kelley" wrote in message ... POP and Exchange accounts generally share the same data store - whatever the delivery location is. Outlook 2007 allows you to specify a separate Inbox and Sent Items for each account, but the default behavior is to use the delivery location folders. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

I know they can use the same store, but Outlook has a long history of
Exchange and POP/ accounts not playing well together in the same profile. What else would be causing this problem? It's not a reproducible issue that I've seen. Still suspect the profile is corrupt. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote in message ... "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... OL2007 New Contact Entries Won't Save; or Send
I have been mixing Exchange and POP accounts for years on the same profile
and data store with no problems. Exchange just amalgamates everything very nicely. Still not sure how such a setup could suddently affect my ability to Save a new contact entry or prevent me from sending to a manually typed email address. Is there a way to run a fix or healing of a corrupt profile?
