how to get started with microsoft 2007 access

I have an excel worksheet on horse racing and I wish to use access? or
something to read the data, see if a horse matches the criteria and write a
report that says "this one" The data to be access is as below; This has not
come out in its true excel columns, nor do I know how to do that. So this
dummy needs big help.
So if anyone reads this perhaps I may be able to explain the data somehow.
