Visio internal error: #2131
When I am trying to open a file I created, which I assume did not close
properly gives me the following: Visio internal error: #2131 Action 1283: Open File First try closing and reopening the file. Next try restarting Visio. I am still unable to open the file. Any suggestions? Thank You, Azad |

Sounds like a damaged file, 2131 is unexpected end of file.
You could try the methods in this artilce - http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;826418 If you're running Windows Vista or Server 2003/2008 you'll have shadow copy service running and can look at the Previous Versions tab on the file's properties and see if there's a recent version of that file. As preventive maintenance I'd also disable any add-ins running in Visio you don't need and store files locally. Scanning the hard disk for errors would be a good idea to. I tried the suggestions you list here, and I am still unable to open the
file. It is saved on my USB drive, and I'm not having any issues opening any other file. I've made a lot of changes to this file since the last backup...please tell me there is something I can do to open it!! Thanks for the help. Visio internal error: #2131
As stated, I tried the solutions you listed in your original post, and I am
still unable to open the files. I'm using Windows Vista and see the Previous Versions, but I cannot restore them. Any suggestions? Under the Previous Versions tab there should be a 'File versions' section,
any previous versions of the file will be listed in there with the date/time of the previous file version, and when you select the previous version you'll have the Open, Copy, and Restore buttons available. You can click Copy to keep the current version (one that's getting the error) or Restore (to overwrite the current file version with the previous one). If you don't have any previous versions in the list you might want to contact support at 800-MICROSOFT or http://support.microsoft.com, but the file's likely corrupt and hense not recoverable, so you may need to recreate the file.
