Problem on import .PST file in outlook 2003
First, we have no idea what steps you used and what happened when you tried.
Second, importing is never the correct way to transfer Outlook data. PST is Outlook's native format. You have no need to convert this data. Just open the file in Outlook and copy what you need from it. If the data is not in that file, then you did not create the file correctly. We don't know how you did that either. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Payam" wrote in message ... I can't import my contact of Outlook XP file (.pst) to Outlook 2003. Repeating: You can open any PST file in Outlook 2003. If you cannot, then
post back with the information I requested the first time. We cannot help when you provide no information. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Payam" wrote in message ... Problem on import .PST file in outlook 2003
eok
I do below process: 1- in Outlook XP: file - import and export - export to a file - personal folder file (.PST) - highlight Personal Folders option & select Include Subfolders - select address and file name then select Finish - in Create Microsoft Personal Folders menu select password - and finish (create .PST file). 2- in Outlook 2003: file - import and export - Import from another prgrame or file - select Personal Folder File (.PST) option - brows my .PST file - select NEXT & enter my password & finsh. I don't recive error message. But there are not my Contacts (name & no.). I can import this file to Outlook XP previously but I can't import that in Outlook 2003 now. If this explanation isn't complete' please question me to I explain better. Thanks (Very) |

Your explanation is fine, but you appear not to be understanding mine.
Importing and exporting is not the correct way to transfer Outlook data. We don't know where you made your error until we start troubleshooting this. To start, open this PST file correctly by using Outlook's File Open Outlook Data File command. That will open this file as a second set of Personal Folders in your profile. Examine its Contacts Folder to see if the Contacts are there. If they are, then just copy them into your current Contacts Folders. If they aren't then you made your error when you exported. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Payam" wrote in message ... eok I do below process: 1- in Outlook XP: file - import and export - export to a file - personal folder file (.PST) - highlight Personal Folders option & select Include Subfolders - select address and file name then select Finish - in Create Microsoft Personal Folders menu select password - and finish (create .PST file). 2- in Outlook 2003: file - import and export - Import from another prgrame or file - select Personal Folder File (.PST) option - brows my .PST file - select NEXT & enter my password & finsh. That means you either made an error when you created this PST file or you
copied the wrong PST file when you made the transfer. (If this file contains only mail items, for example, you may have copied an archive file rather than your current data file.) The best way to transfer Outlook data is simply to copy the original PST file to the other hard drive, then open that file in the other installation of Outlook using the File Open Outlook Data File command. Exporting and importing provide too many opportunities to lose or corrupt data, which appears to have happened this time. This has nothing to do with the fact that the 2 Outlook versions are different. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Payam" wrote in message ... ok I did it. yes, I recieve this message when I select my file: "you are about to add a non-Unicode capable store to your profile. That's not what you said. If in fact the Contacts are in your old file after
all, then you have no problem. Simply copy the Contacts from the old file into the new one. After that, just close your old PST file. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Payam" wrote in message ... oooooooohhhhhhh my god sorry sorry for you and for meeeeeeeeeee I open my older .PST file in outlook 2003 and I have any problem and I have my contacts (of course my contacts are ancient) BUT my new file have problem and haven't my contacts!!!!!!!!!!!
