Outlook Express problems
Beginning about a month ago, I have been unable to delete
messages from Outlook Express. Then, beginning a few days ago, I am unable to get a message to "send" completely. Messages are received by the intended recipients, but if I do not move them from the Outbox, they continue to be sent over and over. |

Do this first and if you still can't delete mail, post back and state
which folder the mail is in that can't be deleted. Do not archive mail on default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupted. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move *all* your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. FileWork Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). FileFolderCompact all folders. In ToolsOptionsMaintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and leave it unchecked. As well as any Log boxes that may be checked. In IE, go to ToolsInternet Connections and empty the Temporary files and include Offline Content. Finally, run a Defrag. -- Bruce Hagen ~IB-CA~ "John Johnson" wrote in message ... Outlook Express problems
Bruce, thanks. The delete problem is cured.
I still have the problem with new sent messages. Messages will appear to be going out OK, but then an error message pops up, and the message stays in the outbox. The recipient gets the message OK, but it will continue to be sent over and over unless I delete it from the Outbox. -----Original Message----- Do this first and if you still can't delete mail, post back and state which folder the mail is in that can't be deleted. Outlook Express problems
Create a new Outbox. That one is damaged.
ToolsOptionsMaintenanceStore folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Press the Tab key to highlight the folder location, then Ctrl+C. Close OE, then StartRunCtrl+V will put the location in the box - Click OK and you'll see the OE files. Otherwise, write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer. In WindowsXP, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under StartControl PanelFolder OptionsView. With OE closed, find the DBX file for the folder in question {Outbox.dbx} and delete it. A new one will be created automatically when you open OE. -- Bruce Hagen ~IB-CA~ "John Johnson" wrote in message ... Bruce, thanks. The delete problem is cured.
