Default TextInput FormField, Table Cells and Mouse Clicks

Hi folks,

Does anyone have any insight to this situation:

I have a Form I'm creating in Word (not my first). Let's take the
simplest part of it - a Table with one TextInput Field per Cell. For
layout reasons, I need to make the initial cell size large enough for
about 5 lines of text. The TextInput Field is upper-left justified
within the Cell, so it and its little five spaces are sitting up there
in the corner of the cell. And let's say there's an adjacent cell with
the same thing going on. Let's call them cell A1 and B1.

A1: B1:
+----------------------------+----------------------------+
| ***** | ***** |
| | |
| | |
| | |
| | |
+----------------------------+----------------------------+

OK, now let's say you're the user, and the Form is Protected. And let's
say you like using your mouse. So let's say you want to go fill in the
TextInput in Cell A1. So of course we know that you're OK if you click
on the five little spaces up there in the corner. However, let's say you
don't know enough to do that, or let's say Field Shading is turned off
so you can't even see the shading to tell you where to click. So let's
say you click your mouse in the middle of the Cell, to the right and
down from the TextInput field. Well, Word brings your cursor then to the
*next* available Field, which would be the TextInput field in cell B1.
And you're sitting there, scratching your head, and wondering how do you
get to input data into Cell A1?!?

Does anyone know what a common solution to this common problem is?

Thanks in advance!

Dave

David,

How about default text in a1 "Click here to begin"

Or you could include a macro button to run the following
code (e.g., {Macrobutton Begin "Start Here"}:

Sub Begin
ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("Text1").Range.Fields
(1).Result.Select
End Sub

Greg has answered your question.

What you are talking about is what Word calls an "online form." Check this
in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at
http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or

Chapman's series of articles.

Hope this helps,
