updating TOC in Word 2000
I've built a Table of Contents in a Word doc. using heading styles, but when I update the entire table, all my styles are lost. Why is this happening and how do I get it to keep my heading formatting when I update the thing? Thanks.

The Table of Contents always uses the built-in styles TOC1, TOC2, etc. If
you want them to look the same as the headings in the document body, use the Format Style dialog to modify the TOC style definitions. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org marylisa wrote: I've built a Table of Contents in a Word doc. using heading styles, but when I update the entire table, all my styles are lost. updating TOC in Word 2000
Do I format TOC1 to match my Heading 1 style (and TOC2 to match Heading 2, etc.) in order to keep them when I update the entire table? I'm starting to have the fonts change to all Symbols when I update my TOC and the rest of my document is being placed into the TOC now when I update it as well. What in the world am I doing wrong?
