Repeating Table Caption
I have a long table that flows into multiple pages. I have repeated the
header using "Heading Rows Repeat" option. I have a Table caption in the begining page on the top of the table. I would also like to add a caption on the top of the table in the subsequent pages like "Table continued...". Is there any way of doing that? Thanks. -- Sougata Roy Bethlehem, PA |

Repeating Table Caption
The only way that you can do that is incorporate the caption into, or as an
additional header row so that it repeats on every page and then anchor a text box outside the table, but positioned so that it covers the word "continued" on the first page that the table appears. Fiddly, but can be done. -- Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the benefit of others who may be interested. Just add a reference to the caption label to the text that you are hiding
with the "white box" on the first page? -- Margaret Aldis - Microsoft Word MVP Syntagma partnership site: http://www.syntagma.co.uk Word MVP FAQ site: http://www.word.mvps.org "essar" wrote in message ... Repeating Table Caption
I am not sure whether I followed you correctly. Could you please elaborate
more? My table starts at the top of the page. How can I add a text box anchored outside the table? Whenever I try that, the text box also gets repeated in the following pages along with the header. Repeating Table Caption
When you said you'd tried Doug's suggestion, I assumed you had already done
the most 'fiddly' bit of anchoring the text box outside the table (or at least, outside the repeating heading row). If the table starts at the top of the page, I believe it should be possible to place the anchor in a later row, or you could try using a very small paragraph or a framed para in the margin before the table. Once you've achieved it, lock the anchor (you may find it helpful to do this before fighting the position of the text box). Margaret "essar" wrote in message ... Repeating Table Caption
Thanks Margaret and Doug for the tips. I have been able to achieve the
objective by inserting the text box in the row of the table following the header rows. However I could not follow Margaret's advice, "...you could try using a very small paragraph or a framed para in the margin before the table." How do I insert "framed para"? I would appreciate some step by step guide. Sougata Roy |

I don't think a framed paragraph would work since the frame itself has to be
anchored to a plain-text paragraph. -- Suzanne S.
