One of 15 users cannot open DB
The database I have set up is located on a general server (H Drive). During
todays "training" on using the new database, one user was unable to open the Acess file. All others were able to open and run with out a problem. If he tries to open the file from the shared H Drive folder he gets the following message: Microsoft Office Access can't find the database file 'H:PUBLIC\GP PURCHASE ORDERS\681_PURCHASE ORDERS.mdb.' If he opens Access and then tries to open the database he gets the following message: The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file 'H....". It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data. At the time he tried this, no one was in the database and I have not set any user permissions on this. |

My first guess is that this user doesn't have full read/write permissions on the H: drive, or that he has it mapped to a different drive name. The syntax H:PUBLIC\... would appear to be incorrect as well. What's the actual \\server\path mapped to the H drive? -- John W. Vinson [MVP] |

We will check with our IT department to make sure he has full permission to
the H Drive. Under properties on the actual database file, the location is stated to be: H:\PUBLIC\GP PURCHASE ORDERS "John W. Additional note: The user is able to open another DB that is on the same H
Drive and same public folder but in a different sub folder. "Breezy" wrote: We will check with our IT department to make sure he has full permission to the H Drive. Permission required to share the file are everything except full control. If
he/she does not have delete permissions, they generally cannot access the file if anyone else is in it, but should be able to access it if they are the sole user. -- Arvin Meyer, MCP, MVP http://www.datastrat.com http://www.mvps.org/access http://www.accessmvp.com "Breezy" wrote in message ...
