Default Word 2002 downloaded w/Works

My CD combines the Word 2002 program w/Works. I chose to install Word only,
but Works was also installed. When I deleted Works, Word opened saying
'files missing'. Question: Is there ANY WAY to remove Works (it takes up
224 MB of valuable space) and keep Word 2002 running smoothly. I also
downloaded
SP 3 for it.

Hi, seoulguy. Click on Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, to see
if the Works in Word Suite Add-In is still installed... if it is, uninstall
it too. If this doesn't fix the problem, please write back and quote the
exact error message you are seeing.

I'm afraid I don't understand you. I uninstalled Works, the add-in and the
setup with the message reflected in my question: 'files missing'. In regard
to your comment, I reinstalled Works, and the add-in, etc, because on the CD
you HAVE to install them when you download Word. Your comment about Works in
Word Suite Add-IN is unclear. How would anyone know that?

Yes I am aware that the Works Add-In for Word is installed automatically, but
you can manually uninstall it. I assumed you did not know about it because
in your original post you did not say anything about uninstalling it. If the
Works Suite is installed, it is listed as an "installed program" in Start |
Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. If the Works Add-In for Word is
installed, it appears as a separate entry in the list of "installed programs"
in Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. So to answer your question
"How would anyone know that?", anyone who can read the list of installed
programs in 'Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs' would know whether
a certain program was installed.

I haven't encountered an error message that only says "files missing". Most
error messages are more than two words, and the error message usually tells
you exactly which file is missing. I was asking you to quote the entire
error message.

In retrospect, I realize I should not have replied to your question at all,
and I am bowing out of this discussion. Good luck with finding a solution to
your problem.
