Calculating an age that will never change Access 2007
I need to calculate ages based on how old they were when they entered a
program and how old they were when they completed the program. these ages don't need to be updated just calculated once and for all. Also I don't know how/where to store the calculation for this I was a little familiar with access 2003 and struggling with 2007..... |

First, it usually is not necessary and, in fact, not correct to store
calculated fields. In this case, since the value will never change once calculated, you could do it either way and IMHO not really violate any normalization rules. At least you could get a dispensation from the DBP* If you want to store it a field in your table, create a bound control for the age. Then in the After Update event of the control where the date they entered the program, perform the calculation and put it in the control. If you want to be a database fundamentalist, make the control source of an unbound control show the results of the calculation. *dbp - database pope -- Dave Hargis, Microsoft Access MVP "ccinseward" wrote: I need to calculate ages based on how old they were when they entered a program and how old they were when they completed the program. these ages don't need to be updated just calculated once and for all. Why not just collect three fields: BirthDate, EnterDate, CompletedDate.
Calculate the age on entry and completioin when you need it. "ccinseward" wrote in message ...
