Error 1417 Access has been denied
I am using Visio 2003 Professional on my laptop and saving files to either my
local hard drive or my company server which is a MS Small Business Server 2003. Sometimes, more often than not, when I attempt to save a file I get an error message 1417 Access Has Been Denied. I have to then save to a new file name, which works OK. However I have to generate a new file (or overwrite an existing file) every time I want to save my file. This is a nuisance and makes it very hard to keep track of the latest revision of a drawing. I also have VISIO installed on my desktop which access the same folder on the network and I do not have the same problem. Obviously there is some sort of glitch on my laptop. I could use help in unraveling this problem and solving it. Thanks Jim |

Thanks Jim http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271599 Generally it seems to be a shared directory problem, save the file to a normal folder. -- Regards, Paul Herber, Sandrila Ltd. Paul, thanks for the quick response. There are two parts to this. It does the
same thing even when saving to a normal folder on the resident hard drive. Of course, the reason I am trying to save to the network drive is to make the file available to myself when on a different computer and to others in my company when they need to view the file. The way it is now there are two or three steps to making a usable file to be available as I need it. This seems to be ridiculous to me. Additionally, none of the other computers in the office are doing this so it seems to me to be a problem unique to my laptop.
