Data fields for Outlook & Access 2003
I have all of our employees in the contacts of Outlook 2003.
I need to create reports that would include DOB, hire date, term date, gender, pay rates. I THINK that Access is the tool for creating these "reports". Can I still use Outlook as my only mode of data entry? Can I put all of the necessary data fields in the general tab of Outlook? I'll take my answer off the air. Please be gentle Gordon |

If you export your contacts to Access, can you then use that data source to generate the type of report you want in Access?

That is what I plan to do.
I'm having some difficulty configuring the dates to be mm/dd/yyy. I would aslo like to move or create the data entry fields in the "general" tab of the contact. I'm rather new at this and the though of creating another mother of all tables is not very pleasing. Just a some things to remember:

I don't think the 255 fields limitation will be a problem As far as "custom fields" I need to delve into it more to see if they are there and how to bring them to the front. At least... am I on the right track as far as starting this whole database through Outlook 2003? 1...5....0....5...20....5...30....5...40....5...50 ....5...60....5...70....5. Definitely on track from what you described (without knowing anything else about your app / number of users etc). If you are going to go the Outlook route - then you'll simply need to create a custom form that everyone will use. If all the contacts are in a single Exch folder then process is as simple as it can get. One of our products may be of interest to you for the export (depending on your requirements - you can recreate or "update" your database).
