One step paste of XLS file name in one of its own cells
Is there a way to automatically paste the file name of an open excel file
into one of its own cells. I can paste the file name of a Word Document with a couple of easy steps into a Word document but cannot find a way to do so in Excel. Thanks SeeThomas |

I should have added if you want the full path and filename use
=CELL("filename") -- Mike When competing hypotheses are otherwise equal, adopt the hypothesis that introduces the fewest assumptions while still sufficiently answering the question. I'd include a reference to a cell in that worksheet:
=CELL("filename",a1) (I use the address of the cell that contains the formula) Otherwise, when excel recalculates, you'll see the names of the activesheet and the activeworkbook.
