How to stop a table from dropping to next page

I have trouble with tables when adding text to the main part of the table as
it gets close to the bottom of the table. It will drop on to the next page,
dragging part of the table with the movement. This causes an unwelcome split
in the table. Can anyone please help me stop this problem?
