Changing attachment security
How UNSAFE is it to change some of the files that Outlook will not allow as
attachments? I emailed a PST file from my desktop to my laptop only to find out I can't do that. It was a file to update my address book. I am a former Eudora user and that program did not restict files. What kind of problems could I expect? Thanks |

Changing attachment security
It is an extra safety precaution also against the social engeneering method
of distributing virusses which is getting more and more popular. When sending these type of files it is better to send them in a zip-file. Additionally see; http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/blockedattachments.htm -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more ----- "--- Mardman ---" wrote in message ... Changing attachment security
I feel confident enough that I can usually recognize and bad file and I also
keep my anti virus program up to date. Any opinions on removing the file restrictions? Anyone have a bad experience? Thanks |

Changing attachment security
Only remove the restriction when you are dealing with that type of
attachment multiple times on a daily basis and mail is the only method to obtain those files. In all other cases simply leave it on. Note that a lot of corporate security policies will block those type of attachments already at server level unless they are being contained in a zip-file. -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more ----- "--Mardman--" wrote in message ...
