Default Can I display ALT characters in toolbar box?

I occasionally use scientific characters in cells and at times am not sure if
the correct character is being used because the visual feedback displayed is
of some other font or something. Can the displayed characters in the TEXT
box be set to display the characters as they were set up in the cell ( FONT
and ALT character?)

You use two terms..........

1. toolbar box

2. TEXT box

Are you speaking of the Formula Bar where the actual text is seen?

You will see the text that you type.

The cell will show that text in it's formatted view.

ALT + 0074 in a cell formatted as Wingdings will return a smiley face but in the
formula bar you will see uppercase J
