Default Link Master and Child Fields

What is the maximum fields one can place in Link Master and Link Child fields between Forms and Subforms?

I have 2 between main form and subform and the 3 between the subform and its subform. This works as far as being able to enter data.

When I add a 4th between the subform and its subform when I try to enter any of the fields in the last subform I get "The Value you entered isn't valid for this field.

Any ideas? or too many links?
