I am trying to bind a check box to data records in a table. Fields are set up in the table but do not appear in the 'Control Source' drop down list under properties.
How can I get the new fields to appear in the drop down list?

Is your form bound to a query? If so make sure your query has the fields in its rows. If it's bound to the table, make sure the Field Type for the field which is going to be connected to the checkbox is set to "Yes/No." That should be the field type for a checkbox.

The table or a query that contains the table and has the desired fields in
its output must be selected as the Record Source for the form or report.

I have now determined that the table is somehow locked to prevent the adding of fields. Although they show in design view they are not transformed into options in the control source properties. The database was originally created by someone else for me and I have now idea how to unlock it.

Bob, what do you mean by "locked"? Can you open the table directly? If so,
then you should have the permissions you need. If there is a query between
the table and the form then try to open the query directly. Again, if you
can, then you have sufficient permissions to assign those fields to a form.
Do you know if "user level security" was implemented on the database? If
not, then it sounds as if something is corrupted. You can get information on
corruption here.
