Embedded Files
I would like to embed a Microsoft Word file with macros into my Power Point
Presentation but by having it displayed as an icon so that you can click on the icon during the slide show and have the MS Word document appear. Does anyone know if this is possible? |

You can link to the Word document (put them both in the same folder first)
by creating some sort of object on your slide, right-clicking that object and clicking "Action Settings", clicking the "Hyperlink to" dropdown and scroll down and select "Other File". Browse to and select your document. Be sure the "Highlight click" checkbox at the bottom left is clicked. You can embed the object by clicking "Insert", "Object", clicking the "Create from file" TAB, browsing to and selecting your document. Click the "Display as icon" option. You can also click the "Change icon" button to change the icon or caption. Only down side with this option is being able to click and open during Slide Show mode. The first one works better for that. Keep in mind that linking to a word document with macros will bring up the macro warning dialog box. -- Bill Foley Microsoft PowerPoint MVP Microsoft Office Specialist Master Instructor www.pttinc.com "Kels01" wrote in message news I would like to embed a Microsoft Word file with macros into my Power Point Presentation but by having it displayed as an icon so that you can click on the icon during the slide show and have the MS Word document appear. Does anyone know if this is possible? Yup. Use Insert/Object/Create from File and navigate to your Word document. Set the animation to open object on click. -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com |

I don't know. Cause I don't like the Custom Animation method because I
always like to have the "Hand Pointer" indicating an action setting and I was used to right-clicking the icon after I inserted it and select Action Settings then click the "Object Action", "Open", then click the "Highlight click" option. If I do the Custom Animation option by itself I don't get the ability to highlight the click (at least I don't know how to). And since I end up going into Action Settings anyway, it is just as easy to do the "Hyperlink to", "Other file" method instead of the Insert, Object method. Plus, I'm ornery! There, I said it! HA! -- Bill Foley Microsoft PowerPoint MVP Microsoft Office Specialist Master Instructor www.pttinc.com "Echo S" wrote in message ...
