Default updating and saving contacts in Distribution List

I have some 7 contacts in my Distribution List named "A". Can I open the
Distribution List "A", add two more

contacts, remove 3 existing contacts and save the distribution list as "B"
by which distribution list "A" will not

be affected. "B" distribution list will have the changed distribution list
of 6 people. "A" will have the same 7

which it had before.

I am using MS Outlook 2007.

Can someone please clarify if this is possible? If so, how can it be done?

Thanks

You need to reverse the order of steps a bit: Make a copy first, with the
Edit | Copy to Folder command. Then rename the copy and make your changes to
it.

Thanks for the reply. Well, I choose the DL, go to Edit-Copy, Then
Edit-Paste and a new list
is created with the same name(don't understand how that occurs as I
thought names have to be unique).

Then, I change the newly created list's name and make updates to it.

Am I doing things correctly?

Yes, that's more or less the procedure that I suggested you follow. (The
Copy to Folder command cuts down on a step by combining the Copy and Paste
operastions.)

Names of folders have to be unique at each level in the hierarchy, but not
names of items.
