Receiving email from multiple LAN PCs
I use Windows XP on 2 different computers in my LAN, and on both of them my
email program is Outlook Express 6.0. I would like to use the same email address on both computers, and if I receive a new email message on one computer and open it (thus marking it as "read"), I would like to be able to go to the other computer and see that same email message in my inbox. Is this possible? If so, what is the procedure? If OE cannot do this, is there another email program that can? Thanks. |

In each instance of OE, go to Tools-Accounts-Mail, highlight the Mail Account, click on "Properties" in the right-hand pane, and click on the "Advanced" tab. Then check the box "Leave a copy of the message on the server" and check the box for "Delete after x days or when removed from deleted items" HTH |

Is this possible? If so, what is the procedure? Not natively in MSOE, but through an extra program, if you wish. If OE cannot do this, is there another email program that can? If you want to learn how to run a mail server, you can set one up to provide a local (on your LAN) IMAP service. Then all you need to do is replace the current MSOE POP3 accounts with MSOE IMAP accounts. I use Mercury Mail, with the POP3 distributing client and IMAP4 server. Mercury Mail, not MSOE, POPs the mail from the server. MSOE, from any computer on the LAN, can then access the same account, and the email will be available in the server folders. -- Norman ~Win dain a lotica, En vai tu ri, Si lo ta ~Fin dein a loluca, En dragu a sei lain ~Vi fa-ru les shutai am, En riga-lint |
