Excel 2007 Error Reopening Pivot tables
Has anyone got the error:
"Excel has found unreadable content" and then "Removed records: PivotTable report from /xl/pivotCache/pivotCacheDefinition1.xml part (PivotTable Cache)" when all spreadsheets with pivot tables are saved and then reopened. This did occur on the B2TR but it also occurs in the Offical release. I unistalled Office B2TR and then installed Official Office 2007. I have deleted my profile and reinstalled Office 2007 twice and the error is solid for all spreadsheets with pivot tables. Help? -- Mike L |

Excel 2007 Error Reopening Pivot tables
As A further test, when I opened the pivot table spreadseets constructed with
B2TR, it correctly wanted to upgrade them and resave them. It also gave the same error when it was trying to upgrade the old spreadsheet. When the corrected spreadshhet was saved and reopened, then it gave the same error again. Very puzzling. -- Mike L "Mike L" wrote: Has anyone got the error: "Excel has found unreadable content" and then "Removed records: PivotTable report from /xl/pivotCache/pivotCacheDefinition1.xml part (PivotTable Cache)" when all spreadsheets with pivot tables are saved and then reopened. Excel 2007 Error Reopening Pivot tables
I installed the production version of Excel 2007 on a different machine and
sadly repeated the same error where a saved spreadsheet with a pivot table always gave the error when it was reopened. It looks like a solid issue - anyone know of a workaround to suppress the error displays? -- Mike L "Mike L" wrote: As A further test, when I opened the pivot table spreadseets constructed with B2TR, it correctly wanted to upgrade them and resave them. Excel 2007 Error Reopening Pivot tables
It may be of interrest that when such a pivot table spread sheet is published
to MOSS 2007 B2TR, the Excel Services cannot display it (it considers it to be a corrupted file). When you allow it to be opened with Excel itself, the error above is repeated. I think I need to revent back to Excel 2007 B2TR until this issue is resolved. Any suggestions? -- Mike L "Mike L" wrote: I installed the production version of Excel 2007 on a different machine and sadly repeated the same error where a saved spreadsheet with a pivot table always gave the error when it was reopened. Excel 2007 Error Reopening Pivot tables
So I deleted the partition on my PC and reinstalled WIndows Server 2003 after
a reformat of the disk. I then installed Office 2007 RTM. I then created a new spreadsheet with a Pivot table connected to my OLAP cube. I saved the spreadsheet. I reopened the spreadsheet and immediately got the error. -- Mike L "Mike L" wrote: It may be of interrest that when such a pivot table spread sheet is published to MOSS 2007 B2TR, the Excel Services cannot display it (it considers it to be a corrupted file). Excel 2007 Error Reopening Pivot tables
I have done more tests and the error is caused by a complex OLAP cube.
Apparently a complex cube as the external data source of a pivot table causes Excel to output a corrupted XML file for the spreadsheet when it is saved. Excel might need to be fixed -- Mike L "Mike L" wrote: So I deleted the partition on my PC and reinstalled WIndows Server 2003 after a reformat of the disk. I then installed Office 2007 RTM. Excel 2007 Error Reopening Pivot tables
The latest tests indicate that Excel 2007 will save a corrupted spreadsheet
if the OLAP cube or perspective opened has any KPI's defined. The resulting saved spreadsheet cannot be opened by either Excel 2007 nor Excel Services in MOSS 2007. -- Mike L "Mike L" wrote: I have done more tests and the error is caused by a complex OLAP cube.
