Default Sound recorder in Publisher

Hi

I want to record a voice in Publisher using the sound recorder. I can do this by Insert object and selecting Wave Sound, but when I do this the sound icon does not appear even if I tick the display as Icon box.

If I click on Change Icon, I can select a different one and it works, but I just want to the sound recorder icon.

This works in Word so not sure why is does not in publisher?

Thanks
Shirl

Sorry if this is a silly question, but why exactly do you want to record
a voice in Publisher? Publisher is a program for print output; you can't
print a sound. Even if you're creating a website in Publisher, the sound
(as far as I know) won't transfer to the web.

Use an audio application for audio files. Sound Recorder can be started
in Start All Programs Accessories

I was thinking the same thing...audio ink?

Maybe the OP would find PowerPoint more useful????

No it's not a silly question and sorry this is a long answer. FYI I am in the UK.

I am working on a project with teaching staff, giving audio feedback in electronic assignments, mainly Word and some PowerPoint. Assignments are submitted electronically by students and audio feedback given by the tutor using insert|object and inserting Wave sound files. Files with feedback are then sent back to the learner

I know they can create audio files outside of Word etc and use software such as Sound recorder and Audacity to create audio files and mp3 files, but for some of the staff involved (limited IT skills), recording audio in Word is reasonably simple.

Some of the younger students age 14+ are still at school and come to college one day a week for hairdressing and other courses.

As part of their course, they have to produce assignments, lots of them use Publisher at school for creating all sorts of publications. So some of them have also used it for their assignments which they submit to their college tutor.

I was creating handouts for staff for a training session to show them how to put audio in Word and PowerPoint, when I also looked at putting audio in Publisher - this is when I spotted that the sound recorder icon does not appear in Publisher and was hoping that someone would know why.

I know that you could easily choose another icon but wondered why it does not show the standard sound recorder icon.

Hope this makes it a bit clearer.

Thanks
Shirl
