Default add title above table

When I finish my table, how do I add a title above the table? I don't want
to change the cell contents which the instructions seem to result in. Can
you help?

Default add title above table

Put the title in an ordinary text paragraph, formatted as "Keep
with next" (FormatParagraph, Line and Page Breaks tab). The Caption
style, which Word applies when you InsertReferenceCaption, has this
setting by default. Alternatively, put the title inside a border-less
top row (and format the row as "Keep with next").

Have you tried Insert--Caption?

Default add title above table

If the table is at the very beginning of your document, press Ctrl+Home to
get to the beginning of the table, then press Enter. This will create a new
text paragraph above the table.
