particular style (top cell shading - grey, paragraph spacing 1 pt, Is there
some way I can automate this or do it with much ease.

For existing tables where no styles are applied I dont see a quick way to do it and I am afraid you have to do it by hand. However, you can make separate styles for all your table attributes (eg Table Heading; Text_in_Table; Bullet_Level-1_in Table"; etc). Do this for one table. You still have to do it by hand for all the other tables, but then you can assign the appropriate style to the texts in the table, depending on its function. This is quicker than repeat every formatting manually, ensures consistency through-out and makes it a one step operation should you desire to change the style later.

PS: Assuming you have table captions with a caption style assigned, set this caption to "keep with next". This ensures that the caption is always on top of the table and avoids an ugly page break between caption and table.

You'd better ask in a programming newsgroup, such as
microsoft.public.word.vba.general, for assistance with this.
