Default Finding contacts in Outlook 2003

I am having trouble with contacts in Outlook 2003. I use office 2003 pro, I
enter my contacts all the same and I choose to file them as last name, first
name. But when I create an email and select TO: I can enter the first name of
someone in my contacts and it finds her, by first name or last name. But I
have other contacts that I can only find by last name, the first name is not
searchable. The contacts are set up the same, what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance for any assistance with this.

How you chose to file these Contacts in your Contacts Folder is irrelevant.
You are not using your Contacts Folder when you click on the To: button. You
are using the Outlook Address Book view. How you chose to sort your Outlook
Address Book view is what matters. You neglected to post that information.
