Tables lose formatting when opening Word 2002 with Word 97 doc
Hi,
On an network server is Windows 2000. If a table is created with Windows XP/office 2002 machine for some reason when it is opened with a Windows 98/office 97 sr2 machine the formatting of the tables changes. I have a mixed environment and don't appear to have such problems. Anybody know what i can do to fix the problem? Thanks. |

Hi Dh,
On an network server is Windows 2000. If a table is created with Windows XP/office 2002 machine for some reason when it is opened with a Windows 98/office 97 sr2 machine the formatting of the tables changes. A *lot* of table functionality has been added to Word since Word 97 was current. It's not at all surprising that the table layout of formatting might change when a document created in Word 2002 is opened in Word 97. One thing that could help would be to disable newer functionality (Tools/Options/Save) when working in Word 2002 if you know you're going to be sharing the documents.
