slow program startup

My excel did work fine before. Now when I start the
program it takes a couple of minutes for it to start.
After it starts when I shut it down the rest of my office
apps also start very slowly. (minutes!) All of office
works fine until I start excel. I must restart my
computer for the other apps to return to normal starting.
