Default Possible Bug: Table Styles and Document Protection

Hi,

Using Word 2003, I have set up a template that defines
some standard styles. Then I have then protected the
template so that documents based on it are resticted to
certain styles.

One of the styles is a table style, which formats the
first row of the table in bold. But, when the protection
is enabled, the bold effect is missing in documents
derived from the template.

Does anyone know a solution?

Default Possible Bug: Table Styles and Document Protection

Hi John

I can replicate your problem in Word 2003. I observe that a protected
template doesn't seem to apply any of the formatting of a Table style, not
just bold in the first row.

I'll let Microsoft know. If I hear anything about the issue in the
forseeable future, I'll post back here.

Shauna,

Thanks for your reply, and for letting MS know.

I can confirm that, on my machine, applying a protected
template did apply some formatting. (In particular, it
did set the desired shading for the first row of the
table.)

So there's definitely a bug there, but perhaps its
symptoms can vary slightly, since in your test no
formatting was applied.
