COUNT(ABOVE) Problem in Word 2003
I have, in past versions of Word, used the COUNT(ABOVE) function to enable an automated "count.". I like using the COUNT(ABOVE) feature better than the normal auto-count feature for a number of reasons (that I won't go into here). Regardless, the COUNT(ABOVE) feature appears to have broken in Word 2003.
Typically, I use "COUNT(ABOVE)" like this: 1. The first cell has a hard-coded constant (usually a 1) 2. The cell directly below it then uses the COUNT(ABOVE) function. For example: Word 2000 Word 2003 Column 1 Resulting Value Resulting Value Row 1: 1. 1. 1. Row 2: COUNT(ABOVE) 2. 1. Row 3: COUNT(ABOVE) 3. 2. Ending Row: COUNT(ABOVE) n. n-1. The problem is, that in Word 2003, the second cell below the constant one, resolves to "1." instead of the desired value, "2." Does anyone know of a workaround for this problem? Thanks. --Charles Leonard P.S. if e-mailing me, remove the "_removethis_" text from the displayed "reply-to" e-mail address before sending... |

COUNT(ABOVE) Problem in Word 2003
I would suggest that the 2003 behaviour is what should be expected.
