Default Contacts not showing

I have Outlook 2007 on my desktop.
I have imported my contact list from my Blackberry. For some reason, I can
see cotacts in the address book, but not in the suggestions address field.
I see some addresses all of the time; some of them some of the time; and of
course, some of them none of the time.

We have tried deleting all contacts and resynching a couple times.(this was
actually done before I took over trying to figure the problem out)
That didn't work.
I have tried every solution I have been able to find in the discussion
boards, including ensuring
- Contact folder is enabled as an email address book
- ensuring autocomplete is enabled.

(these solutions from the discussion groups)

I am also aware that the 'autocomplete' is based on addresses I've sent to,
and not the actual contact list - but even someone I sent an email to 5
minutes ago doesn't show. Or does, depending on the mood of the computer.

I'm completely baffled!

And you're baffling us. You've already stated that you know autocompletion
has nothing to do with your Contacts. So why do you keep trying to
reconfigure your Contacts and address book and expect it to have any effect
on autocompletion? It can't and won't.
I can think of no worse way to populate a Contacts folder than to do so via
a sync. Copy your Contacts from a good backup.
