I've changed the Windows default language and the Word default language and still the US dictionary keeps reinserting itself . Any other ideas? I have no auto language detect functions in my options to switch off.

No, because all variations of English are in the same dictionary file,
and the dictionary file is not in a human-readable format. Lance Bombardier wrote: Could we delete English-US ? |

"Lance Bombardier" wrote: Could we delete English-US ? I agree that, despite doing everything described here, and never, EVER, allowing 'Normal.dot' to be changed, sooner or later I will find US spelling has crept back in. I strongly support the idea that Microsoft should produce a patch that would permit US spellings to be eliminated from what is, in reality not a US, but a core dictionary. If you can add words to a dictionary, it must be possible to delete them! Its simply a matter of Microsoft having the will and inclination to look after its non-US customers. |
