Convert Access Linked Tables from AccessBE to SQL
I am having a bit of trouble with figuring out some type of coding or
scripting that will cut the time for converting an Access Database BackEnd to a SQL BackEnd. I have a data-MDB that contains about 250 tables. I have converted and upsized the tables to the SQL2000 Server. I have approximately 87 module-MDBs that contain a random number(20-100) of 'table' links to the data-MDB. I wish to convert those to SQL-links. I have already looked into using an AccessDataProject, but discounted that notion since MDB/E files cannot link to ADPs. Eventually, this entire application will be converted into a .NET/SQL format. But, that phase will probably be 6 months down the road. Or more if SQL2005 proves to be viable. For curiosity's sake, this is an accounting application that was designed by an untold number of programmers vying for job security. I trimmed off nearly 100 unsued tables. And, so far, the coders apparently maintained the believe that documentation was bad for the soul. So, I will be converting one module at a time. Any help would be very appreciated. BC - in short - Help me point a linked-table object from Access to SQL2000. |
