Default Sync Outlook 2007 Contacts to Windows Mobile 6.1

Bottom line up front: I can not get my contacts that I created to sync with
my phone. Although it seems like MANY users have seen this problem, a
straight forward answer does not seem to be available. No third party
applications, just microsoft software not getting along with other microsoft
software.

Here is the sequence of events with my (unresolved) ordeal in this matter:

Using Windows XP SP3, Active Sync 4.5, and Windows Mobile 6, I synced my
information to my computer. I have a relatively unused, but up to date
version of Microsoft Outlook 2007. It did not contain any contacts or
calendar events. The sync loaded the information from my phone into Outlook.
I have 150 contacts total that I need on my AT&T Tilt. I decided to plug the
ones I still needed into Outlook instead of trying to do it on the phone,
thinking I could just sync and be good. I completed my contact list and they
appear to be no different than the original 52 synced from my phone. However,
when I sync, it does not pull the new contacts to my phone.

I played with this a few ways to include unchecking and checking the
contacts in active sync. Still I got the same results of just seeing my
original 52 being added back to the phone.

Having not done more research into it, I thought an upgrade to Windows
Mobile 6.1 would help. I still have the same results. I even removed the sync
connection in my phone and deleted it off the computer to try it from
scratch. With the new active sync install, I told the active sync setup to
combine the info even though the phone was a clean slate. Still, it only
pulls the original 52 contacts. However, on occasion it does show 0/150 next
to contacts sometimes during the sync. But it never loads any additional
contacts beyond the original 52.

What am I doing wrong or over looking?!? It clearly pulled the original 52
back from Outlook after it was deleted from the phone and reimaged. How can I
get the rest? All of the information in Outlook appears to be the same
between the new contacts and the original 52 from the phone.

Sync issues are never Outlook issues. Ask in the group that supports your
sync software.

Default Sync Outlook 2007 Contacts to Windows Mobile 6.1

Microsoft Active Sync 4.5 groups do not have a clear answer that I can find.
I have to believe there is a bit more to Microsoft Outlook 2007 contacts
seeing that the Microsoft Active Sync 4.5 added 52 contacts to my outlook and
then pulled those same 52 contacts from Microsoft Outlook 2007 after I
reimaged the phone and reloaded the Microsoft Active Sync 4.5. Could it be
stored in two locations in Outlook folders somewhere? Could it be two
different file formats? I have to assume the subject matter experts on
Outlook 2007 here can tell me more than it is a sync problem. I got that! The
question is why?!? What makes my uploaded contacts any different from the
ones I created after that?!? They all appear the same to me, but I have no
idea where these contacts are stored and if they are the same format. Maybe I
am in left field, but I believe there is something to it. Outlook users throw
me a bone here... Someone has got to have a clue as to what the
problem/conflict is. I could understand if I was using third party software,
but the OS for my computer, my phone, sync software, and office are all
Microsoft! It shouldn't be this difficult to make it work or get an answer.
Extremely frustrating…

Answer remains the same. Outlook does not participate in the sync process at
all. No way we you could find an answer here. Your post indicates some
inconsistencies. Perhaps that is the source of your problem. Why wouldn't
you ask in a Windows Mobile group?

Default Sync Outlook 2007 Contacts to Windows Mobile 6.1

I do have this issue posted to a Windows Mobile 6.1 group and a Active Sync
4.5 group. No one has provided a solution. Even with using Google, I have
found that many have shared this issue. Most have not received a valid fix,
or at least they never posted back. Some that had minor issues that were
fixed with a simple deselect and select option to pull in the contacts in the
MS sync software. That didn't work for me. Anyway, I am not sure without
reading over what I posted, what the inconsistencies pertained to. I also
understand that Outlook itself does not participate in the sync process by
any means. SO at this point, can we look beyond that and try to identify what
is different between the 52 contacts that my phone originally added to
Outlook versus the other 98 I made in Outlook itself (150 total). After a
reimage of my phone and a removal/reinstall of MS Active Sync on my computer,
what could possibly be different between the contacts that when I try to
sync, it only pulls the original 52 back to my phone??? File format,
location, what?? Help me figure out why one contact is different from the
other. They look like they are set up the same in Outlook, but in my mind
something is clearly different if the MS Sync software can pull in the
original 52 still after a clean setup. Maybe that is just my opinion, but
even to have proof that the contacts are no different from one another and to
know where/how the contacts are stored in Outlook 2007 would satisfy me at
this point.

Certainly not file format, but ActiveSync works only with the delivery
location folders. If you have multiple contact folders, that could explain
it.

How did you add the contacts to Outlook? Did you add them one at a time with
a New Contact form or did you import them from a file or other application?
If the latter, can you add one manually ans see if it syncs?

In ActiveSync, click FileConnection Settings. What is specified there?
Click Options. On the Sync Options tab, do you see only one Contacts entry
there and is it checked? Select it and click Settings. Which radio button is
selected? What is specified on the Schedule tab? The Rules tab?
