Update duplicate text
I aplogize if this has already been addressed, but I searched and couldn't find anything.
What I would like to do is have my doc cross reference certain text so that it updates the remaining letter instead of having to retype the information again. For example, I would like to type Mr. Johnson in the return address and have this update all other references to the recipient. I've been able to create a book mark and link to it, but I want it so if I change Johnson to Wilson that it will update the existing links. Right now if I change Johnson it creates an error instead of updating the links with the new text. Is this possible? Thanks for any help -- mike |

Update duplicate text
Hi, mikend. You might consider using a DOCPROPERTY field instead of a cross-reference to a bookmark.

Update duplicate text
The error message occurs because on changing the name you have inadvertently
deleted the bookmark also. A better plan would be to create a user form in the template that requests the information and places it where you wish. Or even use an ASK field to collect the bookmark, or a bookmarked Fillin field. If these or Garfield's suggestion don't appeal. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org mikend wrote: I aplogize if this has already been addressed, but I searched and couldn't find anything.
