Default Tab function in a text box

Is there a way to change the formatting of a text box created from the "drawing" toolbar that would allow the user to "tab" like in a Word application? When a user tabs to create an indent, they jump out of the text box.

Along those lines, Alt-Enter will also allow you to create text on more than
one line in a text box.
