Contact recovered errors
Hi,
I had a computer failure and replaced my system with a new one. I was able to recover my mail file, outlook.pst. I reinstalled Office on my new machine and then replaced the new outlook.pst file with my old one. It was a while ago and I can't recall whether the old name was outlook.pst or mailbox.pst and I renamed it when I replaced it. All functions worked properly and I had my old folders and email. The only thing that doesn't work properly is the contacts. When I go to view contacts by clicking on the contacts button in the lower left side, it displays my old contacts properly. When I try to access the contacts to insert into the address of a new mail message, I get an error: "The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Office Outlook Help." The dialog box has only an OK button. I click the OK button and I get the expected Select Names dialog box , but without any data displayed. If I click on the "Show Names from the:" drop down list I see, three entries, the Outlook Address Book, Contacts (which is the default), and and contacts recovered - which contains my data. Is there some way to get Outlook toautomatically recognize the contacts recovered file or to move the data from the contacts recovered to the contacts list? Thanks, -Mike |
