Access 2002

Help! We have a user getting an Invalid Argument 3001
when running a query with a large databse (approx 5 mil
records. Cannot repair or compact the databse when
receiving this error, but if I create a new database and
link the tables can run the query. Any way of fixing the
problem database without recreating.
