Using MS Query in Excel 2007

Hi,

I have a love-hate relationship with Excel 2007.

One of the things I hate is that they seem to have neutered the connectivity.

I eventually worked out how to get to MS Query in order to create a database
query which I could update, but it seems that two critical functions are
missing.

In the past, when you right clicked, as well as "refresh", which is still
present, you also had "Data Range Properties", where you could choose when
the query would refresh, how it affected formulas etc, and you had "Edit
Query" or something to that effect, which would take you back to the query
editor.

Both of these options have been removed and I can't for the life of me find
them in the noddy ribbon bar.

If anybody knows where they've hidden these (or can confirm their removal),
you will have my eternal gratitude.

And you'll have saved Excel 2007 from an untimely uninstall.

I had the same problem today. It looks like those two options still
exist in a different place.
1. Click on "Design"
2. Click on "Refresh
3. Click on the drop-down arrow below "Refresh"
4. Click on "Connection Properties"
5. Click on "Definition" tab
Then, you should see what you are looking for.
It was easier in Excel 2003...

No wonder I didn't find it.

Seems somewhat oblique.

Clearly another triumph for the "naturally intuitive" © ® ™ interface.

I have a problem in this same area that I'm hoping someone can assist with.
I am trying to us MS Query to access a MYSQL database which I am able to
bring into my excel file, but then I am trying to read that file to create
mailing labels and it is not working. Any ideas what the issue might be?

Sorry - no experience of mysql myself so unable to help.

Since I marked the thread solved, it is unlikely that any "problem solvers"
are going to read it. Your best bet is probably to create a unique thread
for it so that it draws some attention.
