"Locked Fields"
I am getting an error message when I attempt to merge to a new document.
"Word found locked fields during the update. Word can not update locked fields" When I hit OK, it does merge, and my document looks fine. Can anyone tell me what this error message means, and how do I get rid of it? All of my fields are merged fields from an access database Thank you -- Karen K |

"Locked Fields"
Press Alt+F9 with the mail merge main document as the active document to
toggle on the display of the field codes and check to make sure that there are no other fields in the document. There is a possibility that a field may have invertently become locked by the use of Shift+F9 which is also a toggle so it can be unlocked using the same key combination. -- Hope this helps. "Locked Fields"
Hi Doug,
Field locking is via Ctrl-F11 and unlocking is via Ctrl-Shift-F11. Shift-F9 simply toggles the code display for the selected field(s).
