An add-in is a special module that you can use to add function to PowerPoint.
Things that you can't do natively in PowerPoint are suddenly possible because of the power of an add-in. There are many available, both free and for purchase, and if you are a coder you can create your own. If you go to Tools Add-ins you will see a dialog that lists any add-ins that you have loaded. If the list is blank, then you are not using any add-ins. Normally you know whether you have loaded an add-in, but some are installed as a part of other standalone products so that their function is also available to you from within PowerPoint. While we're at it, *some* of my favorite add-ins can be found at: http://officeone.mvps.org/index.html http://skp.mvps.org/ http://www.rdpslides.com/pptools/ http://www.corpimaging.com/PowerTools/ and some that I'm forgetting right now. Apologies to those I've missed. Here's your opportunity to let the community know about you add-in(s). "s.o'b" wrote in message ... Could you just take a minute to tell me what an "addin" is? Sonia:
If you go to Tools Add-ins you will see a dialog that lists any add-ins that you have loaded. If the list is blank, then you are not using any add-ins. Not necessarily true. Depending on how a PPA addin is installed, it may or may not appear on that list. And COM addins don't appear there ever. There's a code snippet here that'll list ALL installed add-ins. Maybe I should turn it into an add-in? But if I did that, should I have it include itself on the list? Exactly the same thing happens when I click on Slide Show Custom Animation or Transition. I don't get the windows that usually pop up on the side of the screen. I am using a lap top from work. It is booting up very slowly all of a sudden. I am looking at System Information. I just realized it is Windows 200 Professional. Is it a problem running Power Point 2002 on it? I have done a few other presentation without any problems. Thank You! "Sonia" wrote: What version of PowerPoint are you using? Can you describe what you mean when you say the tools aren't working. Do you mean that you can't assign a transition or an animation, or do you mean that when you do apply them they don't work? -- Sonia Coleman Microsoft PowerPoint MVP Team Autorun Software, Templates and Tutorials "s.o'b" wrote in message ... I had a power point presentation done, then decided to add more slides.
