Default Subforms crash using ODBC

A97, Win XP

I have a form with two subforms. This form crashes Access (the "Send Error
Report" kind of crash) when it's opened. Before yesterday, the queries on
which the subforms are based were based on linked tables - linked to another
Access database. I changed them to be linked directly to our accounting
software via ODBC. The software is Timberline and have about 30 other mdb's
that use Timberline's ODBC driver without issue.

I changed the tables like this: Imported three tables via ODBC to replace
the three Access linked tables that I wanted to delete. Changed all the
queries to refer to those tables. Changed all the formulas in calculated
controls on the forms to reference the new tables. Deleted the old tables.

When I remove the two subforms, the form opens with no error. If either of
the subforms are present, it will crash. I can open the subforms without it
crashing, but obviously this shows all records. Nevertheless, I think it's
odd that subforms open directly, but not when they're a subform on another
form. All the underlying queries also run without error.

I tried recreating the subforms from scratch and adding them to the parent
form, but I got the same results.

Can anyone suggest where else I might look?

Thanks,
