Default setting up a 4.25 wide by 8.5 height paper

What would the dimensions be under Page Setup for Margins
and Paper to set up a document so that it will print with
a left margin of 1.5 inches (so as not to print over the 3-
hole punch)?

Actually, the number you put into the Margins box is the margin, so....1.5.

For purposes of binding, use the "gutter" margin. Leave
the margins of the document itself be, and add a .5 (or
more) gutter under File|Page setup| Margins.
