Thank you for the screenshot, Chris! And for the additional information. I
really appreciate it. (Starting to think I'm losing my mind because of this issue!) Here's the latest thread about this. Oh, a couple more questions.
This isn't a presentation-specific issue, is it? (I don't think it is, but I want to confirm.) Also, I see the menu "Translator" on your screenshot. What's that? Is your laptop unplugged? (Oh, wait. I just went through all of the suggestions on that other link you provided.
Nothing worked. However, when in safe mode, the stuff showed up normally. It is not a presentation-specific issue. The laptop is plugged in. The translator toolbar is from the Promt Translator. I'll disable that and see if that makes a difference. Chris "Echo S" wrote: Poking around on the web...I think the Translator menu might be from Reverso Translator. Got a possible breakthrough here. I disabled the translator, and it worked
fine. A closer look shows that toolbar having low-color icons (8-bit?), whereas the other toolbars have high-color icons (16-bit?). Could there be a resolution conflict that negates the display of the task pane when 8-bit toolbars are present? Thinking out loud here.... Sounds very plausible to me. Wish I knew if the others with this problem had
that same add-in! I'm not sure exactly what the reason is, but you might want to drop the Prompt Translator people a line. Can't see task pane design template
Well, the nice thing about this translator program is that I can choose which
Office programs the toolbar shows up on, and since I really don't need to translate Powerpoint slides, I just turned it off from that entirely. I'll send a note to Promt about that issue and see if they can fix it in an update, but that won't cure issues for people who are using some other add-in program with low-color toolbars. If that is, in fact, what the issue is. Chris "Echo S" wrote: Sounds very plausible to me. Wish I knew if the others with this problem had that same add-in! I'm not sure exactly what the reason is, but you might want to drop the Prompt Translator people a line. They really need to fix this, if only to save me from scratching my head so much it makes me bald! :-) -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com Fixing PowerPoint Annoyances http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/powerpointannoy/ "Chris Banyai-Riepl" wrote in message ... Got a possible breakthrough here. I disabled the translator, and it worked fine. A closer look shows that toolbar having low-color icons (8-bit?), whereas the other toolbars have high-color icons (16-bit?). Could there be a resolution conflict that negates the display of the task pane when 8-bit toolbars are present? Thinking out loud here.... Chris "Echo S" wrote: Poking around on the web...I think the Translator menu might be from Reverso Translator. Can you disable or uninstall that application and see if it makes a difference? -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com Fixing PowerPoint Annoyances http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/powerpointannoy/ "Echo S" wrote in message ... Oh, a couple more questions. This isn't a presentation-specific issue, is it? (I don't think it is, but I want to confirm.) Also, I see the menu "Translator" on your screenshot. What's that? Is your laptop unplugged? (Oh, wait. The plug symbol means it's plugged, doesn't it?) If it is, what happens if you plug it in and aren't running on battery power? Conserving resources, you know.... -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com Fixing PowerPoint Annoyances http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/powerpointannoy/ "Chris Banyai-Riepl" wrote in message ... Chris "Echo S" wrote: Timothy, is there any chance I can get a screenshot of your screen(s) with the missing design and layout thumbnails? I see both Prompt Office 7.0 and Prompt Pro 7.0. I'd like to kick this issue over to MS testing, and details like that always help. :-) Maybe they can figure out exactly what is causing the problem.
