Default How do I set up a small business database using Access??

I am in the process of building a small business, but God knows I need a
strong and people friendly database for both the clients and employees. I
would like to be able to build a database that will allow clients to create
an account or reservation with the business. Meaning a database that will
allow them to sign up with the business via a connected website to the
business. How do I go by synchronizing all forms, Pages, Tables, to the same
database??

If you have little experience w/ either database applications or Access,
brace yourself. The learning curve is fairly steep. Add "web" to that and
you have a real project before you...

You'll find that the newsgroups are great for answering specific questions,
but a general "how do I set up a database/application to do xxxx" may only
garner general suggestions.

Good luck!

At the risk of sounding like a spammer, you really may want to consider
contacting a consultant to advise you in what the approach is for what you
need.

As a small business owner myself, I can tell you from experience you don't
want to go into this from the wrong direction and have to spend time down
the road re-doing everything you are setting up today.

Feel free to hit my link below, or the link of any of the other frequent

Good luck!

Thank you much Jeff! I thought about hiring a professional myself until
someone told me that the microsoft Access software was very people friendly,
and that they knew someone who had built their own database from scratch with
no experience in a matter of a couple of weeks. I have tried my best, but all
I know how to do is composing pages with like let's say a customer's profile,
but how about methods of payement and all that good stuff so I will just go
with a professional! Thanks for your reply!

Kevin thank you much...I did speak to a consultant and from what he told me,
I got the understanding that this is going to be a $5000 plus project, so I
figured that buying the Access software and play with it for a couple of
months might be my best bet to cut down start up cost, but yes I do not want
to buit something that will create problems down the line, thanks for your
good advise. But if you know any database programmer that will charge me less
please let me know!!

In addition to the other suggestions you've received (and ignoring the web
aspect),
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/te...359381033.aspx
might provide some ideas, even if it's only "I like/need this, I don't
like/need this" talking points if you decide to hire someone.

These 1000 (if at all a real figure..) is only the result of
-- 4 years abusing the newsgroups.
-- 4 years blatantly advertising and job hunting.

You just don't care about the newsgroups. You have no ethics at all.
You only care about making money, and you act as if the groups are your private hunting ground.

-- You abuse this group and others for job-hunting and advertising over and over again
-- You are insulting lots of people here when they ask you to stop this
-- You posted as Steve, Ron, Tom, Rachel, Kathy, Kristine, Heather and ??? while asking questions
(the latest 'star's': 'Access Resource' and Tom )
-- You try to sell a CD ($125,--) with FREE code you gathered from these groups here
-- There even has been a 'Scam-alert' about you which has been explained recently in the thread 'To all':
http://groups.google.com/group/comp....954261f9?hl=en
-- Also recently it became clear that you have been spamming innocent people asking questions:
http://groups.google.com/group/comp....3e5f58ad?hl=en

So why would ANYBODY ever trust a person like you and hire you?

Feel free to click my link, browse my site, etc. If you like, there are a
number of ways to contact me on the site. No charge for intial info
gathering. Actual project implementation is hourly, at a reasonable rate.

Designing a database in Access follows the same rules as designing a
database in SQL Server, Oracle, etc. Access simply makes it much easier to
paint yourself into a corner. I've been doing it for over 10 years and
learn something new on every project.
