Default Phone number formatting

Phone number formatting
OL2003
Hi
How I can remove the brackets insertion in the contacts
phone formatting
My phone list includes a lot of foreign phone numbers that
hold different number of digits
All the phone numbers of the contacts list are formatted
with brackets positioned differently according to digit
number

Actions / Call contacts / New calls / Dialing
options /setting for phone number formatting and dialing
shows an unchecked and not accessible "Automatically add
country code to local phone number"
Is there someone who can give me the clue on how to remove
the brackets insertion on phone number formatting?
Thanks

No good way to do this. Masking of phone numbers is hard coded and based on
your dialing location. Some users have reported success by placing the phone
number in quotes.

Thanks,
With you response- meaning it is not possible to remove
brackets- I used the following tricky tip.

If outlook want to insert brackets, let position them
myself!.

I move all my contacts to excel via Export. Attention map
customs fields should be "Default map", otherwise you
loose data
In Excel, Use replace to change "+" (which is preceding
all my number for local and international calls) into "()
+ )
This way all my phone number are becoming in text format
and I can remove and insert spaces for instance to make
phone number reading more efficient.

Once it is done, come back to outlook and import the excel
data, again by using Import from a file and the default
mapping Attention it is necessary to expand the 3 Email
field and to assign a mapping origin, otherwise you loose
all Email from Excel

Once it is done, your contact list is showing brackets
positioned where you did in Excel,
The advantage is that outlook is no longer formatting the
phone numbers and you can individually position spaces
within the phone/Fax / Mobile number to ease reading

This way you can also transfer you contact data to Ipaq
and P900 with the same contacts presentation

Cool. Not sure I'll be recommending it to anyone, but glad it worked for
you.
