Default Database Window Detail View

In my database window if I select the Detail view for viewing a list of tables/queries/forms/reports/module the window displays nothing instead of a list of what is in the window. The tables and such are visible if I change the database window view type to Large Icons, Small Icons or List. How can this be corrected? (The installation of Office 2002 has been removed and reinstalled with the same problem occuring on all machines.)
