Default in Access, how do I restore a field to a report?

I have successfully been using a report I designed some time ago, by trial
and error. In doing this (the revision) I inadvertently deleted a field from
the design view. Simply typing the field name back into the design does not
restore the field to the design. How do I do this?
I'm embarassed at how this stupidity demonstrates my amateurish approach to
this, but I'm stuck.

I'm not sure how you deleted a field from the design view. I expect you
might have deleted a control from your report. You should be able to view
the Field List and drag your field onto your report to create a new bound
control.
