Problem Dragging Shapes into Visio
I can't seem to find out why this error is happening. I have Visio
2003 SP2 published through Citrix Presentation Server 4 (via Web Interface 4.2). Everything works fine in it except for when you do custom searches for objects and try to use said object in the visio diagram by dragging them onto the page. I get the following error: Visio is unable to create a shape using this master shortcut. The target master cannot be found in the target document. Target Document: CUBICL_U.VSS Target Master: L workstation When I RDP to the citrix server that is publishing this application (as the same user), I can search and drag shapes no problem. Even when I do an ICA connection to the full desktop it works fine. but when I do an ICA connection strictly to the published app, I get that error. Now, heres the funny part. I did all of this testing, and found what I wrote above, then I decided to try something different. I opened the RDP connection to the desktop, opened the app, and dragged the shape across. Worked fine. So then I decided to SAVE that document, close the RDP connection, and open up the application through web interface. I then proceeded to load that saved document and, lo and behold, I can now drag shapes over no problem. What is going on? Will I have to do this with all my users? Is this more of a citrix thing or a visio thing? |

Problem Dragging Shapes into Visio
Hi CB,
Once you drag a master from the stencil into a document, the document receives and stores a local copy of that master, so it will always be there in a hidden stencil. Go to File Shapes Show Document Stencil to see this hidden stencil. The Find Shapes list returns a bunch of shortcuts to various masters.Visio master shortcuts have been dodgey in the past. I'm not exactly sure what's going on because I don't know much about Citrix. -- Hope this helps, Chris Roth Visio MVP Free Visio shapes: http://www.visguy.com/category/shapes Visio programming info: http://www.visguy.com/category/programming/ Other Visio resources: http://www.visguy.com/visio-links/ "cbrunet" wrote in message ups.com... Problem Dragging Shapes into Visio
Hi Chris,
It appears that I've semi lied. If I go back to an old drawing after being away from it and try to bring a shape in, it wont work again, so I will have to terminal services to the server, open up the app, drag the shape over, and then save and log off and access it through citrix again. I don't have the problem of NEEDING to use citrix, I can work from the servers desktop, but casual users wont be able to, and its becoming increasingly frustrating for them. So, I'm still having this problem and I'm really not sure what to attempt. Since all Citrix is really doing is a terminal service connection to a server, and running the app on the server, I'm not sure why Visio would act differently. If I RDP or use an ICA connection to go to the servers desktop and launch it from there it works fine, but an ICA connection to the published app fails every single time. Is there a way I can check connectivity to wherever these master lists are located?
